Winemaker Josh Baker Notes
From first whiff to last sip, our 2007 Edna Valley Merlot beautifully balances ripe, dark fruits and gentle oak spice. In the nose, the aromas are reminiscent of a forest walk, with a jumble of sun-ripened blackberries alongside fragrant cedar underbrush. These flavors continue across the palate, picking up black currants and caramel. Supple tannins lend structure and texture through the midpalate, developing nicely alongside bright cherry for a long, lingering finish. The homey, rustic flavors of a Coq au Vin or roasted pork loin would pair nicely with this full-flavored, approachable Merlot.
