Winemaker Renato Salas Notes
Bianca Barbera is from the red grape section of our winery. We decided the pick it 3 weeks earlier than what we would pick our grapes for our Red wine. We selectively chose 9 rows and picked the earliest ripening fruit for that time of year.
We took the Barbera grape and treated like a white. We simply pressed it and removed the skins and seeds like we would a white.
The brix level was at 21.0 brix, or about 3.5 brix lower than what we do for our traditional Barbera red wine.
The result floored us. It smelled like Watermelons after fermentation. The color is simply amazing. We used a different bottle to highlight the beautiful coral pink hue coloring.
When our guest taste, they described it as tasting like "Summertim ...more... e".
My tastebuds don't know that flavor, but when it is said that name dozens of times, I go with it.
Although, this wine is for everyday, not just "summertime". It is very crisp, very clean, a dry Rose'. Probably the finest Rose' I have ever made. Refreshing and a great aftertaste.
