Winemaker Brett Raven Notes

The Frostwatch Kismet is a proprietary blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. This White Bordeaux cuvee was originally based on 47 vines (plants later identified as unknown clones of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon), which were accidentally planted in our original Chardonnay block in 1997. After several years of segregating the fruit from those vines and loving the resulting wine, we took cuttings from the plants and planted several acres of these unique clones. Our mystery clones of these two varietals consistently mesh perfectly with Bennett Valley climatology and soils. The 2015 vintage displays notes of melon, peach, apricot and fig on the palate. The wines have vibrant fruit yet also exhibit richness and complexity. Our Sauvignon Blanc a ...more... nd Semillon plantings are coming into maturity and are now producing between three to four tons to the acre in a warm vintage. While this tonnage pales in comparison to other more production-oriented vineyards, we believe that given the extreme quality of the fruit, the trade-off is justified!
The wine recently received a 90 point score from The Wine Advocate.
