Winemaker Edward Rugg Notes

With the Stags Leap District's mix of bright sunlight, warm days, cooling afternoon marine breezes, high concentration of volcanic soil from the Palisades, plus 20 or so other soil types, what more does a vine need to produce the best grapes? The answer is more time on the vine for full and even ripeness. Here's where the 2012 vintage delivered in spades. The resulting high aromatics, concentration of flavors and silky tannins make this wine powerful, smooth and round on the palate with an undertone of minerality and anise accents.
