Winemaker Erich Bradley Notes

The 2014 growing season began very early with winter drought conditions leading to early bud break and the earliest harvest on record. March rains fueled the vines and moderate summer weather allowed the grapes to develop at an even pace. We began picking in late August as the grapes achieved optimal ripeness. All of our Pinot noir and Chardonnay grapes were picked by the end of
September. Thicker skins and even ripening conditions resulted in balanced, complex wines of depth and nuance. The late ripening characteristics of the Sangiacomo Vineyard allowed us to hang the grapes on the vine until late September. A small rain helped extend the hang-time and afterwards a nice medium heat allowed the phenolics and flavors to crescendo in a rivet ...more... ing way. The resulting wine has exceptional concentration with bramble and sauvage notes complimenting the classic Pinot noir characteristics that the Sangiacomo Robert’s Road Vineyard is known for.
