Winemaker Chad Joseph Notes

This Barbera has a deep garnet red color with inviting aromas of cherry, hibiscus tea, pomegranate, and mixed spices. With a medium body and flavors of ripe plum, chocolate cake, and pipe tobacco. This wine’s silky mid palate brightens up on the finish with its lively acidity and soft tannins.
Grapes were hand-picked in the morning and gently de-stemmed to a temperature controlled stainless steel tank. The must cold soaked, and then pump overs were performed 2-3 times daily with the onset of fermentation. After pressing off the skins, the wine was transferred to oak barrels for 12 months of aging in mostly neutral oak, with a portion being new oak barrels (30% new French & 5% new American), before being bottled.
