Pezzi King Vineyards - Heritage and Great Dry Creek Zin!
Often times, when hearing a winery name, I become intrigued, as is the case here. After all, creating a winery is no small task and a lot of thought goes into it, so I had to peel back the layers (feeling like Shrek here!)

The name is derived from the mothers of James P Rowe Sr. and his late wife Jane. I find the naming greatly respectful, especially having lost my own mother recently. You see, James last name comes from his Italian roots (Pezzi), having spent much of his time as a child on what was  once  his  grandfather's  land  in   Dry   Creek   Valley.   The
second part of the Pezzi King name came from Jane's mother whose last name was King.

The winery was founded 1993 on 137 beautiful acres in Dry Creek Valley. The most important first step here was going back to more natural farming techniques and eliminating harmful chemicals. Pezzi King has become the a leader in high-class Zinfandel. They also do justice to Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc  varietals  as  well.   Since  2006,  Pezzi
King has won over 20 Gold Medals and rates among the best in the world. Today, Jim Sr. runs the winery collaboratively with his wife, Cynthia, who works the business planning and strategy side of things.

Pezzi King's Winemaker is Chris Barrett, a graduate from Chico State with a degree in biology. He believes in having one foot in the lab and the other in the cellar, having previously worked for our friends at Vinquiry. Chris thoroughly enjoys working for a premium wine producer in Dry Creek Valley. Then again, who wouldn't?

Sharing their love of wine with the public is truly a passion. Tastings are done by appointment only, poolside at their vineyard estate, overlooking a panoramic view of the beautiful Dry Creek Valley. Guests are greeted by the residents furry mascots (Riley and Evie) and then guided through a flight of their current release, paired with an artisan cheese platter.
