It’s pretty simple. We gather sensory, chemistry and data that wineries provide and combine them, creating a wine profile or “fingerprint”. We then use that data to find wines similar to one another and present those to the consumer, based on what they have told us they already like (done by adding a wine into their favorites).
WineMatch is primarily designed to be a tool for what we call the “middle 80% of the folks”. It means those of us that could use a little help to increase their hit-to-miss ratio when selecting a wine. We respectfully exclude 20% of the folks as follows: If you’re in the 10% that likes jug or box wine, you’re likely better off buying it from your local store. Also, if you’re in the top 10% of oenophiles, you probably already know what you’re looking for and where to get it. Either way, all are welcome at WineMatch.
A “match” uses more points and is closer and more definitive, whereas similar includes a broader range of wines, including blends and other varietal with similar qualities.
It’s free to the consumer. The winery pays a small fee to have their wines profiled and posted to showcase their wines.
You can create your free account with WineMatch, or you can use your existing facebook, twitter or Google+ account on the consumer login page
It’s just how we’re driven. The way you tell us what you like is by way of adding that wine to your favorites. Once you do that, we get busy in looking for those wines that most closely match and any deals wineries might be offering on those wines.
You simply need to be logged in to see the matches.
A couple ways. The first way is to click on “Buy from Winery” on any Wine Profile page. The second was is to buy from the deal the winery is offering, which can also be found on the wine profile page. The winery will take your order and ship you the wine. WineMatch is not involved in the actual wine purchase transaction.
If you go to Suggest a Wine
there is a pull down option here to request a specific wine to be profiled. Once we receive the information, we contact the winery directly and share your request but not your information or e-mail address. Also bear in mind we only represent domestic wineries and wines.
Absolutely, if you add a wine to your favorites, once a new release of that same wine is available, we’ll be sure to let you know. If you want to know about all wines that are released from a certain winery, we can do that as well!
We believe in a high-content, low touch methodology. It simply means that we’ll send you a few e-mails, and only ones that relate to what you have told us you like, be it a match, a new release, or an event at a winery whose wines you like. We do have an extensive ability to allow you to unsubscribe to some e-mails yet still receive others so you get only what you want.
WineMatch respects your information and will not share it without your permission.
